On 6 May, thinc. a full-day symposium in The Hague “Challenges to International Law in the Grey Zone: Conflict with the Islamic Revolutionary Regime” bringing together leading scholars, legal practitioners, military experts,and civil society representatives across five sessions chaired by Prof. Gregory Rose, with contributions from Prof. Uri Rosenthal, Dr. Tommaso Virgili, Dr. Babak RezaeeDaryakenari, Maj. Andrew Fox, Prof. Wolfgang Bock, Prof. Geert-Jan Alexander Knoops, Prof. Danny Orbach, Anne Herzberg, Raouf Leeraar, Alessandro Spinillo, Michal Cotler-Wunsh, Prof. Elena Reznichenko, Dr. Naama Omri, Andrew Tucker and Prof. Steven E. Zipperstein.
At a moment when lawfare is increasingly weaponized as a strategic tool, the sessions examined the full spectrum of threats posed by Iran’s revolutionary regime and its proxies – from nuclear proliferation and Grey Zone operations to transnational terrorism, hybrid threats in Europe, and the deliberate politicization of international legal institutions.
The event served as an exceptional high-level forum for analysis and intellectual exchange, uniting professionals, policymakers and civil society in The Hague, the world’s legal capital, around some of the most pressing challenges to International Law, as well as European and global governance.
